Before forming his own practice, Paul worked in professional theatre as a technician and lighting designer, followed by several years as a theatre and lighting consultant with other established firms.

He is a Member of the Society of Light and Lighting, and was for many years an active member of the Institute of Theatre Consultants. and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.  He was also lighting and sound adviser to Salisbury Diocesan Advisory Committee for 17 years.

In his spare time Paul is a church organist, and is a member of the Guild of Church Musicians and the Royal School of Church Music.
