FEES & LIMITS OF SCOPE
We are a small practice and this is reflected in the level of our fees which we believe is both competitive and represents excellent value for money.
Fees may be charged on a time basis, or as a fixed fee for an agreed scope of works.
Our input will generally be divided into work stages. On major projects these will be based on those used by the RIAS or RIBA.
Travel, subsistence and accommodation will be charged at cost on projects where a time-based fee applies, but are included in fixed fee quotations as a specific number of visits plus a per-visit sum for additional trips. We do not charge for travelling time.
On projects where a time-based fee applies, invoices will generally be issued monthly. On those with a fixed fee, an appropriate fee draw down may be agreed with the client.
VAT will be added to all invoices at the prevailing rate.
We are not Structural or Building Services Engineers, neither are we Architects or Acousticians, and on projects involving major changes to buildings will always recommend our clients employ suitably qualified people to undertake such design services.
We are also not Electrical Engineers, and on projects where none is employed independently, our specifications will require the Electrical Contractor to be responsible for such issues. This includes ensuring the installation complies with all relevant regulations, and for undertaking calculations regarding any new/modified circuit protection and sizing of cable and any containment, all in accordance with current IET regulations (BS7671:2018) and any subsequent Amendments.
Professional Indemnity cover - £1m
Public Liability cover - £2m
Being a small practice, we made a conscious decision some time ago not to formally apply for ISO 9000/9001 status, or for BS OHSAS 18001:2007 certification. However, we do acknowledge the need for in-house quality management and health and safety systems, and can provide statements detailing these if required.
