If
you can only afford to partly equip your building initially, it is most
important that appropriate allowances for future expansion are made at the
outset, and here again we can help you by providing the necessary advice.
Most architects are likely to have been part of a theatre or
concert audience at some time, but
few will have trodden the boards or been technicians. If your
team includes an independent theatre consultant with experience
at the sharp end of the business, you can be sure of receiving
the specialist advice your project deserves.
If
you've never embarked on this kind of project before, please follow the

Experience shows that the earlier we are involved in a project
the better able we are to help you plan the arrangement of your
building. For instance, you may wish guidance on
seating/sightlines and staging formats, or the spatial and
ergonomic requirements of ancillary areas and their relationship
with other spaces. We can also provide advice to ensure the structure and
infrastructure required to support the necessary technical
systems are allowed for from the outset. Conversely, we have
also been involved in several projects where our input was not
sought until the
“fit-out” stage of the works, either resulting
in the need for expensive modifications or limiting the scope of
the space.
We
will also design and produce detailed drawings and
specifications
for the technical systems, and ensure they are coordinated
with one another. The planning of these systems at an early stage is crucial if they are to be aesthetically
integrated and not look as if they were added at the last
minute.
