Paul Covell - career
history
Paul worked for 14
years in various repertory and West End theatres and with touring companies as a
technician, progressing to chief electrician and stage lighting designer (for over
100 professional productions). Latterly technical manager at Pitlochry
Festival Theatre for several years during which he helped oversee the transition
from the original to the new building. With this experience he was drawn
into theatre consultancy and architectural lighting design, working for several
highly respected firms including
John Wyckham Associates (Theatre
Consultants) and Lighting Design Partnership (Lighting Consultants), until
ultimately setting up his own practice in 1990.
As a Theatre
Consultant and Architectural Lighting Designer, Paul has been involved in over
140 major projects.
Since forming his
own practice, he has also worked in association with
John Wyckham Associates (Theatre Consultants),
Carr & Angier (Theatre Consultants) and DPA Lighting Design (Lighting
Consultants).
In 1996 Paul was
asked to join
Salisbury
Diocesan Advisory Committee
as their Lighting and Sound Adviser, a
voluntary post in which he provides informal advice to churches within the
Diocese who wish to improve their lighting, sound or audio-visual provision.
In his spare time, Paul is assistant
organist at his local parish church.
