Paul Covell - career history

Paul worked for 14 years in various repertory and West End theatres and with touring companies as a technician, progressing to chief electrician and stage lighting designer (for over 100 professional productions).  Latterly technical manager at Pitlochry Festival Theatre for several years during which he helped oversee the transition from the original to the new building.  With this experience he was drawn into theatre consultancy and architectural lighting design, working for several highly respected firms including John Wyckham Associates (Theatre Consultants) and Lighting Design Partnership (Lighting Consultants), until ultimately setting up his own practice in 1990.

As a Theatre Consultant and Architectural Lighting Designer, Paul has been involved in over 140 major projects.

Since forming his own practice, he has also worked in association with John Wyckham Associates (Theatre Consultants), Carr & Angier (Theatre Consultants) and DPA Lighting Design (Lighting Consultants).

In 1996 Paul was asked to join Salisbury Diocesan Advisory Committee as their Lighting and Sound Adviser, a voluntary post in which he provides informal advice to churches within the Diocese who wish to improve their lighting, sound or audio-visual provision.

In his spare time, Paul is assistant organist at his local parish church.
