Current architectural lighting owes much to stage lighting
in this respect and by using similar techniques in other
environments, lighting can, for example, subtly draw
attention to certain areas or features of a building, or
overtly stimulate the visual senses.
To
successfully apply such techniques requires
an aesthetic approach combined with the appropriate technical
knowledge, including an understanding of current developments in
energy saving lamps and lighting control systems.
Some of the issues we consider when devising a lighting scheme
include aesthetics, illuminating engineering, electrical
engineering, planned maintenance, and of course, capital and
running costs.
